I think there are two "defining points" between sports cars, super cars, and hyper cars. Between sports and super is the NSX. It's a super car, but only just. Compare the car you are unsure of to the NSX, and you will know what it is. Corvette ZR1 compared to the NSX is just a go-fast corvette, so it stays as a "sports car."
