2019年5月21日 · I can't run the Surface Diag Tool because it also says the same thing, it isn't recognized as a Surface. It all comes down to the model type shown in the UEFI, it shows "ST15" instead of "Surface Pro 4". At some point during the refurb process, a tech must have done some UEFI update tool and changed the model type.

I sent it in to Microsoft and I told them it's not even 20 days old and that I wanted a NEW surface pro 128gb and NOT a refurbished unit. They said they couldn't tell me if it would be a refurbed unit or new. I complained but they would not give me an answer.

I'm not entirely sure how the units don't fall into one of these two categories. Either the unit they replace it with is new, or a repaired and refurbished unit.

Set speakers to default device (if its already default, make headphones default and then cycle through the two.) Unattach the headphones while it was set to default device. Reboot the surface.
