Lync Communicator - Microsoft Community

According to my knowledge and research, Office Communicator is a very old product, Microsoft released its successor Lync 2010 in 2011. Lync 2013 has also been replaced by Skype for Business. Now, Skype for Business Online will retire on July 31, 2021 and will be replaced by Microsoft Teams.

If it's not working, contact your work/school help desk or your Exchange, Lync, or Network/Systems Administrator. If you're a home user, Lync will not work for you. Aug 31, 2011 · If the Lync auto discovery server address is being tunneled, then my guess is the VPN administrator has set split-tunnel incorrectly on the domain name in use. The Lync edge server name should not be tunneled. You can test this by connecting the VPN and pinging the Lync edge server name and make note of the IP.
