These heavy haulers are offered with 2 engine options: the gas-powered 6.2-liter V8, and the diesel-powered 6.7-liter V8. Both are thoroughly capable powerplants. The diesel is meant for more heavy duty hauling and towing.

Ford also discontinued the F250’s 6.2 + 6R140 auto trans combo in the same year; the F250 6.2 is now fitted with the 6R100 auto trans which has deeper first- and reverse gears, and sixth gear is a bit longer.
