And the clutch needed to be re-shimmed because the clearance was too high and clutch couldn’t grab. All it cost was $18 for a connector and about 20 minutes of my time.

Jul 18, 2015 · Bought from R&Y A/C Compressor Inc. The compressor was less than the cost for the clutch!! There are several posts on how to do this. Most say to remove more than you need. I did this: Remove the fan (2 bolts on top, one in the center of the bottom. Undo the connections for the fan (near the top) and for the AC clutch (on the side near the bottom).

Middle of the road unit, no variable speed compressor, no bells or whistles. While my buddy in Newport Beach had to replace his about the same time. Same 3.5t load. His, cost nearly $20k, due to regulatory requirements.

The inrush might be a little rough on windings, but again, no big deal. Using an AC with a generator is a whole different ball of wax.

Jan 27, 2017 · 1st thing you need to do is flush out the a/c system. If the old compressor locked up, you will have trash from the bad compressor in the system. If you don't flush it clean, that gunk will ruin your new compressor. Did you install a new orifice tube? Look at all the gunk on it...that crud is floating around the entire system.
