Microsoft Surface Laptop - can't detach screen
Dec 7, 2017 · Obviously the surface laptop doesn't have a screen that can disconnect and because of that, it doesn't have a button or option to perform the task. The fact the Tom is getting an message when using the disconnect function shows that it must be a surface book device.

Surface Book 2 randomly detaching, without physically detaching
Apr 8, 2019 · The screen isn't physically detached, and it typically happens if I open the screen more or close it. Sometimes it randomly happens. It'll fix itself after a few seconds or I'll have to try and turn off the device and detach the screen using the detach key to fix the issue.
