Oct 9, 2020 · Not related to the questionable parking lot meat, but related to cheap ribeyes: Carnival Foods (at least in Lancaster) used to do these sort of promotions from time to time. They would get trailers full of them at $100/pallet. There would be weeks their meat department would make $125k easily.

Dec 12, 2022 · Anybody know what the deal is with these guys selling “20 ribeyes for $39.99” on the side of the road? I was driving home from the supermarket and saw a big sign and folks selling steaks out of the back of a truck.

That’s 4.4lb (3.5oz x 20 / 16oz) for $40 which translates to about $9 per lb. I googled what the cost of ribeye is and looks like $13 - $15 per lb for good quality. But as low as $7 per lb for bad quality.

Oct 8, 2021 · I didn't stop because I figured the deal was too good to be true. I read an article about a similar sale in Cincinnati (20 for $40). The writer said the people tried to sell them on much more expensive packages with the $40 package thrown in free. When the writer said they only had $40, they agreed to sell them the promotional package.

Oct 29, 2020 · Good advice. Falls into the category of "Buyer Beware". The major supermarket chains offer USDA Choice graded Bone-In-Rib-Eyes, on sale, in the range of $5.99 to $6.99 per pound.
Has anyone stopped at those 20 for 40 ribeye trucks?
I tried it once and they try to upsell and add on like crazy. The ribeyes are stupid tiny and have that hard grisly tendony fat that makes them less edible. Get a fat steak pack from Costco for something that is much more fulfilling.

Chuck eye steak tastes pretty close to a ribeye and are a few dollars/pound cheaper. At most grocery stores. Not a ribeye of course, but in my opinion, 100% the best value steak there is.
