2019年4月24日 · Here’s my Type 9 build for painite mining https://s.orbis.zone/2vt7. I’m pretty new to Elite so have only engineered my FSD (range/mass manager). I usually roll with a few extra 1D fixed mining lasers, but the 2D’s are most important You’ll notice I have some defences in utilities, plus a shield.
PSA: The current state of mining, and other useful information
Laser mining produces a lot more tons per hour than core mining, and laser mining in metallic rings produces a lot more tons per hour than in icy rings. The most valuable minerals that can be laser-mined in pristine metallic rings (Painite, Platinum, Osmium) are worth less now, generally somewhere around just under 300K/t.

Thanks so much for the map! It's incredibly helpful. When I was mining asteroid #13, I accidentally prospected the one right next to it, which was 47% low painite. Referencing the screenshot for #13 in your guide, it's the large asteroid just to the right of #13, about the same size and shape as #13 in the screenshot.

2019年12月27日 · Painite can also be mined via plain old laser mining, and painite-containing rocks do not necessarily show up on the pulse wave scanner. Equip a prospector limpet controller, fire it at nearby asteroids, and you won't have to search long before finding asteroids with 30% or more Painite if you're at a hotspot.

2017年5月22日 · Drive along slowly, fire a P-limpet (#1) at a rock, fire another (#2) at another rock, select the first limpet as a target and when it attaches, check the Painite % of the rock. If there is Painite there, mine it. If not, fire off another P-limpet (#3), select limpet #2 as a target and check the Painite % of that rock.

2020年11月23日 · If you are at a Painite hotspot its worth trying laser mining. My usual routine for a painite hotspot is to drop in somewhere in the hotspot where the bands are the brightest yellow, once in the rocks I set off in a direction (usually towards the centre of the hotspot or towards the planet) and then start pinging off prospector limpets one at a time.
