2024年3月3日 — A few things I can think of: get a grate temp probe to make sure it’s what the smoker says it is; make sure the smoker is pre-heated well so the unit isn’t trying to adjust; dont use rub on the bottom, just S&P or at least low sugar; turbinado sugar has a higher burn temp than regular sugar.

2024年5月9日 — Ok so at 250°f the ribs will take 5-6 hours, then I better start the ribs around 11am & the meatloaf at 1pm for done time to around 5pm. Should I get the silver skin off the ribs tonight & get them rubbed down with seasonings & then put the ribs back in the fridge so they will be ready to go. Thanks.

2018年1月4日 — There are a ton of recipes/tips on the forum here for ribs, but for someone just starting out, I highly recommend the 3-2-1 method. In summary, this is: Place your dry-rubbed ribs in the smoker at 250-275 for 3 hours. Wrap ribs in foil with a little apple juice sprinkled in the bottom, and put back into the smoker for 2 more hours at 250.

2018年8月26日 — OK, so I thought I would want a stick burner, but with my life/lifestyle, I won't have time to babysit a stick burner very often. I watched several pellet grill/smoker videos, and pellet burners can produce a decent bark and plenty of smoke flavor with a good smoke ring. If I get a vertical, I can just replace my MES40.

2019年1月31日 — Looking for some advice on how I can obtain some good bark and smoke flavor on my ribs? Depending on the type of ribs I do (thickness of meat) I either do the 3-2-1, or 2-2-1 cooking method. Now I read some people don't foil and some do, to me wouldn't the ribs dry out more? Also, I am not getting a very good bark on my ribs after the 3 hour mark?

2020年3月29日 — I smoke them for 2.5 or 3 hours, then wrap with some liquid for a tenderizing step, then put them back on the pit for 30 minutes to re-set the bark. I'm not going for a pullable product, just a very tender sliceable one.

2019年8月2日 — The MES are great for ribs, but I prefer the pellet grill for briskets and pork shoulder. The Pit Boss has a slide burner, and can grill and sear. I can do steaks, pork chops, burgers, sausages, etc on the pellet pooper, but it doesn't work near as well for me for jerky, seafood, and cold smoking.

2024年8月24日 — Been a few years since I been on here - new house and new job kept me very busy - no time to dedicate to BBQ, but in all honesty ‐ frustration with my 700 series PB pellet grill is also to blame. Sine I got it (in 2018), I was never able to get it to hold temperature. Swings of -50 to +75 degrees Fahrenheit were always a problem.

Mightbe ok for butt or brisket, but I am set in my ways for rib cooking.
