A mistrial was declared after some jurors told the court they felt unsafe after the deliberations became excessively argumentative and racial.

An Escambia County judge has granted the defense team’s motion for a mistrial in the Sheila Agee principal to murder case. After hours of jury deliberation, the judge called in every juror and asked if they had concerns about their physical safety moving forward with deliberations.

Testimony began Tuesday in the murder trial for Sheila Agee -- the mother accused in last year's Escambia County Home Depot murder.Agee, 51, is charged with principle to first-degree murder, as prosecutors say she helped coordinate the killing of 18-year-old Brooklyn Sims through a series of text messages with her 20-year-old son Keith Agee in August 2023.
