Aaditya Thackeray, the sitting MLA from Shiv Sena (UBT), has emerged victorious from the Worli Assembly Polls in the Maharashtra elections 2024.

Historically, the Congress held a stronghold in Worli, but Shiv Sena regained control in the 2014 elections and retained the seat in the 2019 Assembly elections.

In a Sena vs Sena contest in Mumbai's Worli assembly seat, Uddhav Thackeray's Aaditya Thackeray defeated Milind Deora of the Shinde faction, securing the seat for the Thackeray-led Sena.

Aaditya is eyeing a second consecutive term, having first won the Worli seat in 2019 by a margin of 67,427 votes. However, this time, he faced a strong challenge from Milind Deora.

Deora was chosen to contest from high-profile seat because Shinde did not want Thackeray to have a cakewalk, it is learnt. Thackeray's margin has come down drastically from 2019.

Eknath Shinde faction of Shiv Sena has given tickets to Milind Deora and Uddhav Thackeray Sena has fielded Aaditya Thackeray from the Worli seat.

Of the six major parties in the fray in these Maharashtra elections, Shiv Sena (UBT) had contested the greatest number of seats in Mumbai, 22.

The young Thackeray defeated Milind Deora, a former Congress MP who jumped ship and joined the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena in January, with a margin of 8,801 votes. However, this is eight times less than the margin by which he has won in the 2019 Assembly elections.
