Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's party and its allies were set to return to power in the nation's richest state, television channels reported on Saturday, a boost for the Hindu-nationalist leader after a disappointing general election.

Modi's speech comes after the BJP led the Mahayuti Alliance -- which includes the Eknath Shinde-led Shiv Sena, BJP and the Ajit Pawar faction of the NCP -- to sweep the state, with the BJP alone crossing past the 100-seats mark.

The BJP is all set to emerge as the biggest winner in Maharashtra leading in 124 seats in the state with an outstanding strike rate of over.
