The former chief minister of India's Andhra Pradesh state refuted on Thursday bribery allegations and any involvement by the Adani Group in the state government's purchase of solar power while he was in power.

YS Sharmila wrote a letter to Andhra Pradesh governor regarding the Adani Group’s bribery allegations. In the letter, she exposed irregularities in power agreements, and asked for an investigation into the disparities.

Congress and other opposition parties accuse the government of Prime Minister Narendra Modi of protecting billionaire Gautam Adani.

The power purchase agreement was between Andhra Pradesh government discoms and the Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) – two government agencies. No others, including industrialist Gautam Adani or the Adani Group,
